With your See Tasmania Smartvisit Card, you will receive FREE Entry to the Grubb Shaft Gold and Heritage Museum.
In 1877 the Dally brothers discovered much more than beautiful scenery in the Tamar Valley. Their gold strike led to the exploration of the famous Tasman Reef. The Beaconsfield gold mine proved to be the area's most profitable.
|
In 1914, it had produced a yield of 26 tonnes of gold extracted from a depth of 457 metres. While this may not sound extraordinary by today's standards, a visit to the Grubb Shaft Gold and Heritage Museum will make you realise how amazing these mines, and their occupants, really were. Housed in the original brick buildings the museum features the Grubb Shaft mine, an iron smelter, water wheel, battery and a range of working models which bring the displays to life.
The Grubb Shaft Gold and Heritage Musuem is just one of over 60 attractions that make up the sightseeing pass known as the See Tasmania Smartvisit Card. This smartcard allows you entry and special discounted offers to this attraction and many more. |
