The West Coast and South West of Tasmania is a part of this magnificent state that is strongly associated with wilderness, mining and spectacular coastlines.
The major town of the West Coast is Strahan, situated in the beautiful Macquarie Harbour. The largest town on the West Coast is Queenstown. Travelling between these two towns was once considered impossible, but is now considered a ‘lap of luxury’ through the introduction of the West Coast Wilderness Railway.

The South West region of Tasmania has never had any roads or technical links to the Eastern side of the state, and probably never will, which makes this area even more spectacular and unique than any other place in Tasmania.
This is an area where bushwalkers and hikers will be rewarded by spectacular nature sights, while the less energetic can enjoy it all cruising along the world famous Gordon River.
The West Coast and South West of Tasmania has some fabulous places and features that you will not find anywhere else in the world, a definite must see destination for anyone visiting Tasmania!
